Become an adventure seeker like Bella/Kristen Stewart, Twilight series Heroine

Nov

2009

After watching two hours of heroine Bella run around the screen in the New Moon movie, the latest in the Twilight series, the shoe fanatic in me got to wondering what she rocked on her feet that ultimately led her back into the arms of her one true love Edward Cullen.  Those shoes took her away from vampires, to vampires, with wolves, off cliffs, on motorcycles, and to save the love of her life.

Bella rocks the screen some of the time in the basic Converse Chuck Taylor.  They add a little punk to the small town of Forksand keep Bella true to her tomboyish clutzy style.  And clearly they add a little special luck to her disastrous life where she somehow continues to narrowly escape death, time and time again.

In “real” life, actress Kristen Stewart’s footwear of choice is often the Keds Basic Champion CVO.  This shoe comes in a wide variety of colors so you can stock up to be sure to have a pair for every outfit in your closet.  She’s been spotted all over town rocking these kicks.

The best part is that both these shoes come in kids and women’s sizes!  Check them out on Sears.com.  And while you’re at it…try to avoid lonely meadows.  I’ve heard they attract bloodthirsty vampires and extremely large wolves.

Trend of the Week: Over the Knee Boots

Nov

11

2009

Spotted on runways across the world, this daring boot takes fashion to new heights.  It’s bigger, bolder, and better than ever this season after being spotted on celebs and fashionistas across the globe.

So why should you wear a shoe that covers over half your leg in leather?  Well… I suppose you could take the sensible approach that it’s actually for warmth as we watch our thermometers plummet in the upcoming months.  Far more coverage than your favorite pump can offer.

Aside from the obvious answer, over the knee boots are a great way to take a winter spin on your cross seasonal clothes.  In the summer you pair your skinny jeans with your gladiators.  All you have to do now is toss on your over the knee boots and a long cardigan over your favorite summer tank and you’ve got a frugal fall look.  How about that fun skirt and espadrilles?  Just add tights and boots and its ready to go for winter!

This season, bust the winter blues by taking your boots and your style to new heights.  Check out two of my personal favorite over the knee boots on Sears.com:  The Restricted Vamp and the Too Lips Too Kinky.

The Practicality of Rain Boots

Nov

11

2009

Rain boots date back to the early 19th century in England.  The original version of rain boots were worn by Arthur Wellesley, the First Due of Wellington.  After requesting his shoe maker to tweak his boots to be less fancy and more form-fitting, the rain boots, or "Wellies" became the trend among well-to-do English men.  It wasn't until rubber was discovered when farmers saw the value of a boot that could keep their feet dry while out working in the fields.

While rain boots are still practical in today's society, keeping our feet dry on that wet commute to work, they've also become quite the fashion trend.  With numerous colors and prints to choose from, this staple item isn't going away anytime soon.  Once seen as just a spring-must have item, rain boots are practical in the fall and even winter depending on your geographic location.

Check out this selection of rain boots that are sure to put a smile on your face and spring in your step - even when its raining outside.

Finding the Perfect Work Boots

Oct

2009

Finding the perfect pair of work boots its practically a science.  It goes far beyond the appearance, fit, comfort level and price that a typical shoe shopper considers.  Work boot shoppers have to also consider features like:

  • Non-slip
  • Oil resistant
  • Steel toe/composite toe/safety toe
  • Electrical hazard protection
  • Water proof
  • Puncture proof
  • Insulation

Sears and Sears.com carry the top brands for work including Diehard, Craftsman, Caterpillar, Wolverine, Dr. Martins, Timberland Pro, Bates, Harley-Davidson, Carolina, Dewalt, Dickies, Converse and special work lines from Skechers and Dr. Scholl's.

Sears also helps guide you through the purchase process with the digital work boot catalog: www.sears.com/shopfootwear where you can shop by brand and find the boots or shoes with the features and technologies you need to do your job safely.

Responsible Shoe Ownership: Taking Care of Your Shoes

Oct

20

2009

I realized over the weekend that I have a 10-year-old pair of shoes.  They are a pair of Adidas gym shoes I've owned since 1999.  In 1999 I was still in college, I only wore these shoes to the gym (which I frequented religiously), with these shoes, I was in the best shape of my life.  I was carefree, my only responsibility was getting an education - no mortgage, no car payments, no husband and no dogs.

I later wondered why I'd hung on to this pair of shoes and not donated them like the rest of my shoes that had lost their luster.  Then I realized somewhere in the midst of becoming a responsible grown up and spending my own,  hard-earned money on shoes, I had learned to take better care of my shoes.  Shoes will last much longer if properly taken care of regardless of how much you paid for them.

Here are a couple things that can help increase the life span of your shoes:

  1. Clean your shoes regularly.  If you step in some mud wipe it off immediately.  It is particularly important to clean your shoes before storing them for the next season.
  2. Weatherproof your shoes for rain, sleet and snow.  Salt can do some serious damage to shoes so it may be best to wear winter weather boots and then switch when you get to the office.
  3. Polish and condition your leather shoes on a regular basis
  4. Properly store your shoes and boots rather than keeping them in a pile.  Shoes cubbies, over the door organizers or even keeping them in the shoe boxes will help protect your shoes and help keep their shape.

Being the responsible adult (and shoe owner) I am now, my husband and I made our weekly Sunday trip to the home improvement store.  Taking my own advice, I bought yet another shoe cubby to store my shoes. This one holds 18 pairs, a well-needed addition to my closet organization because with all the great sales Sears and Kmart have been having, I've bought 6 pairs of shoes in the last week.

And while I keep buying new shoes to add to my collection, I will not be getting rid of my "vintage" 1999 Adidas.  The shoes that once represented a physically fit, carefree college student are now literally stained with responsible homeowner chores like tar from resealing our driveway in 2006 and dirt from the "Great Landscaping Project" of 2009.  These shoes will live on until the sole has fallen off.

Can a pair of shoes really change your life?

May

By: JuanO

The new lunch of Kmart has introduced many new great brands: Protégé, FisherPrice, Jacklyn Smith, Craftsman and TheraShoe.

TheraShoePete

This week, we’re going to talk about the TheraShoes/Sandals. They haven’t gotten the center stage but little by little they’re becoming one of the most popular shoes at Kmart. You’re asking yourself why aren’t they getting any attention? Let’s be honest…. They’re not the coolest looking shoes. If you only look at the appearance of the shoes, you will probably never buy them, but once you find out the magic of these shoes you will fall in love with them (Ok fine, it’s not really magic, but it’s pretty close).

Since we first introduced the brand, we’ve gotten many testimonials about how these shoes have changed our customer’s lives. We had one customer write, almost in tears, thanking us for such a great product; she’s had back problems for decades and it was only until she started to wear these shoes that she lost all the pain. One customer said that the TheraShoes were the most comfortable shoes he’s ever worn. Another customer mentioned she bought them after a 14 hour shift, her back hurt, her legs were sore but once she put on the shoes, no pain.

So what are the benefits?

  • Reduce Heel Impact, Pressure and Shock

  • Lower Painful Heel Spurs

  • Lessen Shock to the Spine and Lower Back

  • Improve Lower Extremity Comfort

These shoes didn’t just come out of thin air, similar technologies have been around for years. What makes the TheraShoes/Sandals stand out is the price. Our competitors are charging more than $100, who can blame them? Customers are willing to pay that much for the benefits that come with the shoe.

How much are they at Kmart? We’re selling our TheraShoes at 34.99 and our TheraSandals at 9.99

Don’t let the outside appearance scare you away; it’s how they make you feel that counts

Feel the TheraShoe Experience!
